Crossover Novel between The Arcane Shot Series & Knights of the Boardroom Series!

Ben O'Callahan has had a long day. But he has information they need, about a dark witch from his past who may have plans to destroy New Orleans. Well, screw that. This is his town. Much as he'd prefer to go home to his beautiful submissive and a nice steak, a knight knows when it's time to don the armor and go fight evil. Only in this case, his lady isn't the type to wait at home. Marcie is going to fight for the city, right by his side, with the Guardians and witches who know that love is the one thing that evil can't defeat. Not if the will is strong enough.

Excerpt

In The Problem with Witches, two popular characters from Joey W. Hill’s contemporary Knights of the Board Room series cross paranormal lines to join Mikhael and Raina of In the Company of Witches, in an attempt to save the city of New Orleans…
* * *
Drip, drip, drip.
Just a leaky pipe, he told himself, shrugging it off. Ben glanced at his watch. He’d told Marcie he’d run late tonight, so when he got home, he anticipated finding her on the small nook balcony of their Garden District home. She’d be nested into the wrought iron garden chair she’d repainted a cheerful blue and placed amid the forest of blooming potted bougainvillea there. She’d have a glass of wine at her elbow, her sneakered feet propped on the rail. Her lovely face would be creased in concentration, strands of her silky blond hair framing her delicate features as she studied for the police academy exams. He tried to curb his demanding appetites while she was in study mode, which was part of why he’d chosen to work late, but pinning her to the wall and taking her hard before he fixed them a late dinner qualified as restraint for him.
He’d probably want her once more when they finally went to bed, but she wouldn’t be studying then. Or when he woke at the 3am witching hour, which he often did. His beautiful submissive would murmur in her sleep, open to him, give him all of herself, as she took all of him, and then slip back into dreams, drawing him with her. His good witch, with her own special magic to counter the darkness of the bad stuff that disturbed his sleep in the middle of the night. He—
Drip, drip, drip.
Damn it. Ben paused, his brow furrowing. He tracked every foot of the parking deck, looking for the source. It was one thing to hear dripping from the eaves in the aftermath of a rain shower. They hadn’t had rain in three days, and this drip was like the leak from a rusty pipe, something heard underground. He didn’t like it.
Two vehicles were on the top covered level of their parking deck, the McLaren and Lucas’s Outback, since he’d biked home this afternoon, the maniac.
Only two cars, but the parking deck wasn’t empty.
Ben didn’t carry a gun. He was glad as hell his wife carried and knew how to use the concealed Glock she favored. But he’d learned to fight and survive without one. Had killed without one. The ability to handle a situation with wits and whatever weapons were close to hand was a skillset he’d never abandon. Never wanted to get out of the habit.
It came in handy when a couple of assholes were trying to corner him on his own parking deck at work.
“If you don’t come out of the shadows, the security cams can’t show me kicking your asses on YouTube. I’ve had a long day, I’ve got a beautiful woman waiting on me at home, and a good sirloin. So show yourselves, let’s get this done, or fuck off.”
The shadows to the right moved. Ben set down the briefcase and put his car at his back. As soon as the cameras did show whoever was approaching him, the alert team Kensington & Associates employed would be on their way to clean up what he left in a crumpled mess on the concrete. The cameras should have already tracked what he was dealing with, but apparently the bastards had knocked out a couple lights on that side.
The big son of a bitch who emerged wasn’t what Ben was expecting. He wore a cowboy hat, for fuck’s sake. He also carried a white ash staff, very Gandalf-like, that didn’t blend with the worn jeans and dark blue button down he wore. But it did work with his boots, which might have been snake or alligator skin but was neither, at least no species Ben had ever seen. The scales were bronze and silver, with tinges of iridescent color. The guy wasn’t wearing them as a fashion accessory. They were scuffed, well-used.
His face was lined and rugged. Maybe forty-something, until you reached the steel-blue eyes, and then Ben thought he was looking at someone—or something—way beyond room for candles on his birthday cake. Unless the expanse of buttercream frosting was the size of a football field.
The set of the guy’s mouth and jaw said cop to Ben, no matter the odd get-up. Too often in his youth, Ben had been on the opposite side of the law, so that cop-vibe was another instinct that never went away. Yeah, he got the irony. Ben’s own wife was studying to join the blue line. God help him.
Asshole number two stepped into the light a few feet away from Cowboy Gandalf. This one had the same cop vibe, was also tall and broad-shouldered, though he presented himself quite differently. His black suit was a Brioni bespoke, Ben was certain of it, a four- or five-figure investment. No Lord of the Rings staff for this one, but there was an odd energy vibrating around him.
His gaze was so dark Ben couldn’t detect pupil from iris, as if that wasn’t eerie as fuck. The guy’s hair was dark, thick and silky, yet there was nothing pretty boy about the eyes. That darkness ranked up there with vampire movie effects, not so easy to laugh off in the middle of the night.
But he’d faced a lot scarier things.
“Getting bored,” he said sharply. “I do have office hours. What do you want?”
“A voodoo priestess named Elagra Bluebird Jones,” said Cowboy Gandalf.
Okay, that was one of the scarier things.
It was perhaps the last thing Ben would expect someone to say to him. Yet it wasn’t a surprise to hear it, because somewhere way deep down in his gut, he’d always known he’d have to deal with her again.
Out of all the disturbing things that woke him at 3am, one of them actually was a witch.

Two Kinds of Damned
The True and the Crown Book 2

The True want me. The Crown wants to use me. But what do I want?
The academy of magic doesn’t have frat parties; it has balls with tuxedos and flowing champagne and chocolate fountains. Oh, and masked debauchery. Lots of that.
Unfortunately, instead of enjoying the debauchery with the three alluring magicians I’m falling for, I’m there to draw out the True henchmen. I’m nothing but bait in a ball gown.
To serve my country—and to stay in Avalon—I need to play the part of a villain. The True need to think I can be persuaded stand alongside them as they destroy Avalon.
At least these three men see me as I really am: a woman who just wants a second chance.
Unfortunately, they’re hiding secrets of their own…
And some of those secrets will be revealed, even before the masks come off.

Three Kinds of Lost
The True and the Crown Book 3

The university of magic is no place for the dark lord’s daughter…and the Crown Prince’s birthday ball is no place for her either.
But it’s not the kind of invitation that a girl can reject. So, my men and I pack up our fancy clothes and off we go to the prince’s castle. We have a mission along the way. The secrets that have kept me safe until now are crumbling. I need my magic back, now.
Without my magic, without being useful to the Crown, I can look forward to a one-way ticket back to your world.
Or a one-way ticket to dead.
But while my men and I hunt the man who stole my magic and destroyed part of my soul…
he’s hunting me too.
By the time our battle is over, every truth will be revealed. Every lie will be destroyed.
Will Avalon ever be the same?
Will my heart?

May Dawson writes reverse harem romance about magic, strong women, and the men who love them. A native New Yorker, she's settled in Virginia, where she is raising two red-headed troublemakers and a passel of cats.

~*BLOG TOUR*~ The Sydney St. John Mysteries by Cary Osborne

Oklahoma Winds
The Sydney St. John Mysteries Book 1
by Cary Osborne
Genre: Mystery

In Oklahoma, spring brings storms raging across the American prairie, too often spawning tornadoes that lash the land. But this spring Sydney St. John finds herself fighting for her life against another danger, one from the past. When her intern's body is discovered in the archives processing room, everyone wants to believe the girl's death was an accident or a horrible mistake. But Sydney sets out to discover whether the cruel murder of today resulted from another crime committed nearly seventy years earlier, searching for clues as only an archivist can. Her search leads her to another danger, different, in the person of Ben Bartlett, grandson of the creator of the very collection at the center of the mystery. Is he to be her lover? Or her murderer?

OKLAHOMA WINDS is an engrossing thriller that reveals the inexorable links present-day events (and crimes) always have to the past. We are forever connected to the history that brought us to where we are now, and unraveling the tangled truths of that history can shed a brilliant light on who we have become. Yes, OKLAHOMA WINDS is a murder mystery, and a fascinating one. But it's also a testament to the power of the past over our lives. Having had some experience with research librarians and archivists, I've always known they were some of the most brilliant (yet unsung) detectives among us . . . and the protagonist of OKLAHOMA WINDS is long-overdue proof of that. Sydney St. John does for archivists what Indiana Jones did for archaeologists -- and I can't wait to see what mysteries she'll tackle next!
--Brad Denton, author of Blackburn and Sergeant Chip

Oklohoma Winter: Black Ice
The Sydney St. John Mysteries Book 2

Oklahoma, the state that ranks second as most dangerous in the U.S. when it comes to weather. Too often, the wind comes sweeping down the plain, with a vengeance. In winter, black ice glides onto the roads, barely seen, and when the wheels of a vehicle run onto it, a driver had best beware.

It’s winter in Oklahoma, and Sydney St. John finds murder among the papers of the Filmore County Historical Archives. The collection is that of Carl Blair, rancher, politician, father, and husband, who ruled his land and his family without the need for compassion, or love. Although gone these many years, his grandchildren and Lawrence, his only surviving son, still suffer from his cruelty and heavy hand. It's Sydney who must untangle the web that begins with racism and murder. Ben Bartlett her lover, still living in California, is helpless to save her from natural disasters and festering family hatred.

Saving Souls
The Sydney St. John Mysteries Book 3

Sydney St. John, still living and working in Gansel, Oklahoma, hopes to never be involved in a murder investigation again. She plans on being content with organizing the historical documents in the Filmore County Historical Archives. But when Patrick O’Kelley, preaching to no one on the corner opposite the archives in twenty-degree weather, is found murdered, her curiosity once again gets the better of her.

The facts she discovers lead her to hidden gold, oil rights, and Edward Capeheart O’Kelley, the man who shot Bob Ford, Jesse James’s killer. What does the murder in the late 1800s have to do with Patrick O’Kelley’s death in the 21st century?

Cary Osborne has been writing for more than two decades, delving into many genres including science fiction, fantasy, mystery, horror, and romance. Having once been told that there aren't enough generalists in the world, and having an interest in many worldly aspects, makes it difficult to settle into a single mold. Ancient history, being one of those interests, she uses her studies in the subjects and backgrounds for her stories, both long and short.

Chloe Flowers is an award-winning author and the recipient of the University of Akron, Wayne College 2018 Writer of the Year Award. She writes small town contemporary women’s fiction, and historical women’s action and adventure romance novels about scoundrels, pirates, and spunky, independent heroines.

Chloe keeps bees, and identifies her hives by the different flowers she paints on them. Her pets have always been named after her favorite characters or action heroes: Indiana, Luke, Gimli, Thelma, Rocket, Forrest, Al Giordino, Severus, Mushu, Mérida, Gibbs, Jack…Dead Pool (he’s a goldfish).

Chloe’s biggest fault is the apparent inability to say “no” whether it’s in response to a call for aid or a double-dog-dare to hike home through 30 acres of a snow-covered forest at midnight…during a full moon. It was early morning during said adventure when she came upon a group of sheriff’s deputies searching for a lost girl. So, of course she offered to help (turns out, they were searching for her).

She is a member of the Romance Writers of America, Northeast Ohio Romance Writers and RWA Contemporary Romance Writers, The Beau Monde Romance Writers group, where she served as secretary 2017-2019.

She has given workshops and presentations on creating a critique group, how to provide effective critiques, story structure, marketing and self-publishing lessons to writers groups, library patrons and school children.

In 2014, she started her own small publishing company, Flowers & Fullerton. Currently, she’s the publisher of record for authors Sheridan Jeane, Heather Knight, H.O. Knight as well as herself.

Chloe has a weakness for good red wine, Calvin & Hobbes comics, pie, dark chocolate and brown-eyed guys with beards, which is probably why she digs pirates, men in uniform and treasure hunters and writes about action and adventure and of course romance, which is the greatest adventure of all.
