~*RELEASE BLITZ*~ The Rake's Irish Lady by Barbara Monajem

The Rake's Irish Lady
by Barbara Monajem
Series: Scandalous Kisses, #2
Genre: Historical Romance - Regency
Publisher: Soul Mate Publishing
Cover Designer: Anna Spies
Release Date: December 30, 2015

ONE WILD NIGHT . . .
Widowed & lonely, Bridget O’Shaughnessy Black indulges herself in a night of pleasure.
After all, she's in disguise. And the baby girl? An unexpected blessing...until an old flame claims the child as his own to force Bridget to marry him.

ONE DETERMINED LADY. . .
Many women pursued Colin Warren, but only one climbed in his bedchamber window. When Bridget does it for the second time, she doesn't have fun in mind. Colin is unfit to be a parent, and yet he has no choice but to acknowledge the little girl.

RISKING EVERYTHING FOR LOVE
Circumstances force Bridget and Colin together, yet grave differences divide them. Can love bridge the chasm that keeps them apart?

Bridget shouldn’t let herself smile at Colin, because that invited a smile in return. The kind with dimples and a hunger that reached his eyes.

Probably reached hers, too, so she sighed and turned away. Yearning to touch him had become a physical ache, and even a brush of his hand, much less a boost on her derriere, made it a thousand times worse.

They wouldn’t catch up to the others tonight, but tomorrow, once the rain was over, they would find an alternate route. One more night of self-control…

She was a fool to want him, but she couldn’t help it. What had come over her? Suddenly, stupidly, she was willing to risk another illegitimate child by him.

They were almost at the inn. She dreaded another restless night. She needed something to distract her. “Where are those apples? The horses deserve a treat.”

Colin passed her the basket. She took four of the wrinkled apples. They pulled up in front of a battered old building with weathered timbers and dormers peeking from under a thatched roof. No eager servant came rushing out of the inn to greet them.

“House!” Colin bellowed, opening the coach door. Without bothering to let down the steps, he took Bridget by the waist and lifted her down into the rain. This time his hands didn’t linger. “Hurry up and give them the damned apples. Let’s get out of this bloody rain.”

“Would you stop fussing?” she cried. “We’ll catch up to Martin eventually.”

“That’s not what I’m fussing about,” he snapped, heading for the rear of the coach. Bridget offered apples to the wheeler and leader on one side and then stalked around to treat the others.

A spare, grizzled man limped out of the inn. “Come in, come in,” he said, but his eyes widened at the sight of Colin, in his wet but obviously costly clothing, unearthing two valises from the boot. “I’m that sorry, sir, but I don’t have accommodation for the likes of you.”

“Does your roof leak?” Colin demanded. “Do the fireplaces smoke?”

“No sir, but—”

“Will the horses be warm and dry too?” Bridget piped up, and suddenly she began to shiver.

“Aye, the stables is fine,” the landlord said.

“Then we’ll do fine, too.” Colin dropped the valises on the doorstep. “Warm and dry is all we ask, and I’ll pay handsomely for it.”

A stout lady in an old-fashioned mobcap appeared in the doorway. “What are you waiting for, Stan? I’ll light a fire in the guest chamber. Let the gentleman and his missus in before they catch their deaths.”

*Oh, dear.*

The landlord still seemed uneasy. “I’m sorry, sir, but we’ve only the one small guest room, and not even a private parlor.”

“We’ll do fine,” Bridget and Colin said simultaneously. Their hands touched and twined together. Clung together, as if one or the other of them—or both—was afraid the other would let go. Or as if they were about to plunge off a cliff and holding on for dear life.

Bridget’s heart began to pound. She slid her gaze surreptitiously toward Colin. He wasn’t looking at her but rather straight ahead. A drop of water rolled from his wet hair, over his brow, and down to his upper lip. His tongue flicked out and licked it up.

Desire roared through her. She shuddered. His right dimple appeared, but so briefly she almost didn’t see it.

The landlady bustled away, and the landlord grabbed the valises. “Just you follow me, then. I’m Stan Butterworth, and that’s my rib, Martha.” He led them through the taproom. “You’ll want to change out of them wet clothes first of all, and then we’ll see to your supper.” He preceded them up a narrow flight of stairs. “My Martha’s a right good cook, and we had mutton stew to our dinner, but it won’t be what you’re accustomed to.”

“I’m sure it will be delicious,” Bridget managed. Could food possibly have been farther from her mind?

“It can get right rowdy in here on a fair evening,” Mr. Butterworth said, “but we won’t have much custom tonight, what with the storm and all. You’ll have a peaceful sleep.”

Colin made a sound between a snort and a laugh, but he didn’t let go of her hand.

Winner of the Holt Medallion, Maggie, Daphne du Maurier, Reviewer’s Choice and Epic awards, Barbara Monajem wrote her first story at eight years old about apple tree gnomes. She published a middle-grade fantasy when her children were young. When they grew up, she turned to writing for grownups, first the Bayou Gavotte paranormal mysteries and then Regency romances with intrepid heroines and long-suffering heroes (or vice versa). Some of her Regencies have magic in them and some don’t (except for the magic of love, which is in every story she writes).

Barbara loves to cook, especially soups, and is an avid reader. There are only two items on her bucket list: to make asparagus pudding and succeed at knitting socks (or maybe tea cozies). She’ll manage the first but doubts she’ll ever accomplish the second. This is not a bid for immortality but merely the dismal truth (hence the tea cozies, which she hasn’t tried yet). She lives near Atlanta, Georgia with an ever-shifting population of relatives, friends, and feline strays.

Boone Richards

Olympia Olsen is exactly where she belongs, but I’m not sure she believes it.

I infiltrated my enemy’s compound to bring her back into my life, before almost losing her a second time. Now I finally have what I want...sort of. It’s hard to enjoy mind-blowing sex and sweet, tender love when your club is in chaos, your brothers at odds, and your father is fighting just to survive. Let’s not forget the man who tortured my girl has gone into hiding and left me to pick up the shattered shards from her broken heart.

After all she’s endured, I’m not sure she wants the outlaw lifestyle I’ve always embraced. She is old lady material, through and through. I have no doubt. The question is: Does she believe it? The bigger question: Does she want it?

After all the insanity, I’m ready for some serious, f%#cking fireworks, the kind that dazzle your mind and send chills down your spine. I can only hope Olympia’s by my side to enjoy them.

Olympia Olsen.

Boone Richards came for me, now he’s determined to rescue me…from myself.

The question is: Will I let him? He’s everything I’ve always wanted, so it should be an easy answer; but it’s not. My body screams yes, yet my mind isn’t convinced. As the new Soul Scorcher’s President, Boone’s MC is his priority. He needs a strong woman at his side — a fierce female not afraid to speak her mind, a woman who will love both him and his young boys without reservation. Can that be me?

I won’t lie. I’ve never wanted a man more, but there’s never been so much at stake. I’m a woman who has been through the scorching fire and come out alive, but until the arsonist and my abductor are dead or behind bars, I’m a target. I can’t let the ones I love most get caught in the crossfire.

I’ve lived through a firetrap, a firefight, and survived the firestorm. I’m so f%&king ready to enjoy some fireworks with Boone by my side.

Fireworks is the fourth and final installment in the Scorched Souls Serial-Series. It should NOT be read as a standalone. You will want to read Firetrap (book one), Firefight (book two), and Firestorm (book three) first. Each book builds on the previous installment. The information in the prior books is crucial to understanding the next. This fourth book contains a long-time-coming HEA. Hope you enjoy the conclusion to Boone and Olympia’s story!

Please be advised: The entire Scorched Souls Series is for readers 18 and older due to sexual content, violence, language, and dark subject matters. You have been warned. There are BDSM elements in all four books.

Excerpt

“You ready?” Olympia rested her hand on my thigh, igniting a spark only her touch could create.
I was propelled from my worry- session back to the present moment, where I needed to keep my attention focused.

Olympia’s BMW was parked in a visitors’ space close to the entrance, the engine off. A handful of Harleys stood out from the long rows of vehicles – cages, in biker-speak. Not one car compared to the Hogs with their chrome gleaming in the morning sun, making me wish I was on my bike with Olympia pressed against my back, arms secured around me, roaring down the highway and devouring the pavement like a hungry beast.

How fucked up was it that she’d only ever ridden with me on my street bike?

I was the acting president for a one-percent MC and my bitch had never been on my Harley. I actually chuckled in spite of the fucked up situation, although the sound was hollow.
“Did I miss the joke?”
“No, babe. No joke. Just thinking.” I heaved my large frame from the confining front seat and rolled my shoulders. “Let’s do this.”
“Are you going to tell me?” She sounded annoyed and tired, slamming her door harder than necessary.
“Just thinking about how you still haven’t been on my Harley. Something unheard of considering my feelings for you.”
She moved to my side and took my hand. “I’m not going anywhere. We’ll ride once this storm is over.”
I didn’t voice my next thought.

What if the storm never stopped? What if happiness remained some elusive dream?
I might not deserve happiness, but Olympia sure as fuck did. Maybe I was holding her back from a better life. The idea I should give her up crossed my mind, but only for a second.

I was selfish sonofabitch, and I’d been waiting for a woman like Olympia my entire life. Giving her up wasn’t an option. She was mine and I wanted to make sure she knew it. I needed inside her – now. My vow to wait suddenly seemed like a prison sentence.
Perhaps an early release was in order.

Excerpt
A long moment passed where they watched each other, two strangers on the verge of becoming so much more. The full impact hit her, left her a little shaky inside but not anxious. No, excitement sped her pulse. She licked her lips, already envisioning what they’d do together. “So, am I right?” He slid his hungry gaze to her breasts. The points stood erect, and the sheen of her skin betrayed how hot she’d gotten from touching herself. “Oh yes, I’ll fuck you, my Harley. Sometimes hard and fast. Other times so damn slowly, you’ll beg me to fill you up.” He met her eyes. “I’ll take you so often and in so many ways, you’ll want me to be the center of your world as you are now mine.” He released her wrists and covered one breast with his hand. The hard point pushed against his callused skin, and a jolt of electricity raced down her spine. He captured the tip she’d teased minutes ago. The small pinch arched her back. “Do you like that?” She flicked her gaze from his long fingers holding her nipple to his face and nodded. “Do it again.” One corner of his mouth rose. He rolled the tip, and she gasped. Another tug clenched her core. “Beautiful. I can’t wait to watch that look pass over your face when I fuck you.” She whimpered. The smile giving him a roguish look turned wicked. “You do want me to ram my cock inside you and make you come apart around my dick”—he ran the tip of his tongue over his upper lip—“don’t you?” “I…I…” She couldn’t get the words out. He released her hands and sat back so he knelt between her thighs. Her attention shifted from the desire stamped on his face to the long length of his erection molded by his pants. “Touch it.”

AboutTheAuthor
A true romantic at heart, Nancy Corrigan is convinced there’s a knight in shining armor for every woman (or man), but you won’t find damsels in distress in her stories. She adores pairing alpha heroes with women strong enough to match them and bring them to their knees. She also enjoys flipping the traditional roles in romances because her motto is—love and people should never be forced to conform to anyone’s norm. She holds a degree in chemistry and has worked in research but now focuses on ensuring quality. She considers it the perfect outlet for her as she’s the first to admit she has some OCD tendencies. It carries over into her writing life too. While engrossed in a novel, she has a habit of forgetting to eat and sleep. Fortunately, she’s married to her own knight in shining armor who understands her oddities and loves her anyway. They reside in Pennsylvania with their three children, dog, snake and guinea pigs. Her other interests include tattoos, animals, classic cars and all things spooky and sexy.

Title: Encore Worthy
Series: Mountains and Men prequel novella
Author: R.C. Martin
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Release Date: January 28, 2015
He was arrogant.
He was beautiful.
He was to be her one night fix.
She was gorgeous.
She was haunted.
She was to be his temporary muse.
Millicent Valentine isn't looking for much when she walks into The Brew Cycle for a night out with friends. She isn't after love. Why risk the heartache when one night of unbridled passion will do the trick? Any handsome, willing male will do just fine. When she is introduced to the lead singer of Mountains & Men, she can't seem to take her eyes off of him. He’s an arrogant little shit—but it’s only one night, right?
Sage McCoy is always on the prowl, knowing he can get just about any girl in the room after a night on stage. When he’s introduced to Millie, there is no doubt in his mind that he has to have her. But when he gets her alone, she makes his heart sing and he’s convinced one night will never do.
When morning dawns, the knowledge that comes with the sun has Millicent kicking Sage to the curb—but he knows what he wants and he’s ready for the chase.
His one night stand is worthy of an encore.

Sage
I order a beer, as I always stay away from the hard stuff before I go on. I don’t perform drunk or high or any of that shit. For me, it’s all about the music, the energy, the crowd—I don’t need anything other than the thrill I get just from being on stage, and I’ll never compromise my sound. Most of the guys don’t perform drunk, either. They may have a few drinks—and I sure as hell won’t stop them; I’m not their fucking mother—but we all know our limits and we don’t play sloppy. We play hard and then we party hard.
“Hey, Rockstar.” I hear her voice just as she taps my shoulder.
I turn, unabashedly happy to see her face. “Sarah! You made it,” I cry as I pull her in for a hug.
I live and breathe Mountains & Men. It’s who I am. That said, it doesn’t pay the bills just yet. By day, I work a part time gig at Little Bird Cafe, also recently named Home of Brandon’s Bakery—that’s how I met Sarah. She’s new, been around for about a week now. It didn’t take long for me to decide she’s one sweet-ass chick. Case in point, she came to see us play tonight.
I step back, curling my fingers beneath hers as I lift her arm and give her a proper once over. I’ve seen the way my boss, Brandon, looks at her. She’s most certainly off limits, but that doesn’t mean that I can’t look.
Damn, babe. Remind me not to introduce you to the guys. Their girlfriends would kill me,” I tease.
Truth be told, only two of us have girlfriends. Maddox has Andrea. Well, today, at least. They break up about once a week, so they really don’t count. Then there’s JJ; his woman’s name is Violet. I swear he’s going to marry that girl. The rest of us are just a bunch of single fools playing the field. Knox is the worst. He’s about one notch away from being a fucking man-whore.
Sarah laughs at me, shaking her head as she lets go of my hand. “I brought friends,” she says, turning her attention over her shoulder. “These are my neighbors, Aria, and her boyfriend, Josh.” I shake both of their hands and thank them for coming.
Then all I see is her.
Her long legs, tucked into that tight, frayed jean skirt.
Her narrow hips, begging to be guided in a side to side sway.
Her perfect tits, smaller than average and perfect for biting.
Her straight hair, hanging past her shoulders.
Her sweetheart lips, just plump enough to suck on.
Her eyes, green and gorgeous.
Her eyes, haunted and mysterious.
There are demons in those eyes…

“…my roommate, Millie.” I nod, hearing only the end of Sarah’s introduction.
“Hi,” speaks the vision before me. A smirk tugs at the corner of my mouth, pleased to know that the name Sarah just spoke into my ear belongs to this woman.
I can tell as I take her hand that she’s completely unfazed by me, but that will change. I see the demons in her eyes and I know we’ll dance.
My smirk morphs into a smile at her cool touch. She’s not convinced, but I am.
Fuck, yes—a challenge.
When I let her go, I feel her melody start to swirl around in my head. My heart rate kicks up a notch, the thrill of this chase—of this composition—amping me up. I don’t hear the overhead music, I don’t hear the hum of the crowd, I hear her—I hear Millie.
I will myself to look away, knowing I’ve got to get back to the guys. Before I go, I bring my lips to Sarah’s ear. “Your roommate is a fox. Put in a good word for me, alright?” I grin at her as I begin to back my way through the crowd. I look at Millie one last time before I turn my back on them, pulling out my phone as I go. I’ve got to get this out…
I hit record and the words tumble from my lips.
I see the demons in your eyes and I want to dance
Can’t stop the beat I hear from one haunted glance
Take my hand, baby, don’t let go
I’ll set you free, baby, won’t let go
All night/One song
This room/My home
I’ll set you free, baby, don’t let go
Tonight/Just give me tonight
“I thought you were going to get a beer?” asks Knox as he jumps from the side of the stage upon my approach. I shake my head and chuckle, pocketing my phone. “What the hell happened to you? Ten minutes ago, you looked about ready to make heads roll,” he mutters with a frown.
“I’m getting laid tonight, bro,” I state boldly.
His face breaks out into a grin as he laughs. “Why am I not surprised? Point her out to me later and maybe I’ll be nice and keep my distance,” he adds with a wink. “Come on, the guys are waiting on us.”
I'm a born and bred Coloradan. While I now reside in Virginia, the land of the Rocky Mountains is where I've left a piece of my heart and where my characters come to life. When I'm not writing I'm reading; when I'm not reading I'm writing...you know how it goes! I also enjoy cooking, baking, crocheting, and jigsaw puzzles. Basically, I'm an old soul with a young heart, nonchalantly waiting for my prince to come.
