Memories of Chronosalis
by Ceara Comeau

It’s one thing to read about heroes saving worlds in far off galaxies, but to become one is an entirely different story. Sixteen-year-old Amber Oak wanted nothing more than to stay in her own world of music and solitude. But the inhabitants of Galaseya, a Utopian planet rooted in the past, had other ideas in mind. According to them, only she wielded the power to stop the dark forces threatening their home. At first, Amber sympathized with the planet, but saw no reason to involve herself in the affairs of something outside her world. But the stakes have risen when she discovers that Galaseya is not only the world that has been invading her dreams, but also the place her estranged family originated from. With this new knowledge, questions began to surface and secrets of Amber’s life come to light causing her to second guess everything she knows.

I've been writing stories since I can remember. Stories, I thought, were just for children my age and I did not think they would go far. At fifteen years old, I was proven wrong. My parents took a look at my stories and saw something in them that I could not see. They saw the potential of a good book, or two!

With my Dad as the editor and my Mom doing the formatting, we self-published these books. I did not think anyone, other than my family, would want to read the ramblings of a young teenager. When we published "Amber Oak Mysteries Volume 1" and "Adventures of the Young and Curious," I was fifteen years old, then the unexpected happened. People would write to me and they told me how much they loved my books.

During the time, when I was seventeen, I stopped writing. I lost faith in myself and my ability to write. But , my mom suggested that we publish my third book, for it had been sitting on the shelf for about two years. She thought it would be good to get it out there, before I started college. I did not see what harm it could do, so my third book, "Amber Oak Mysteries Volume 2" was published. In 2012 I published "Amber Oak and the Missing Links". I went on to publish "Amber Oak and the Master of Illusions". In 2015 I published something different call "The Lost Journal of Erika Traynor". These is currently available on lulu.com, amazon.com and barnesandnoble.com.

Recently I realized I needed to go back and redo the original Amber Oak Mystery series. It had potential, but I knew I could do better. It will be different than the originals as it focuses more on science fiction and fantasy rather than mystery. The title of the book is "Memories of Chronosalis".

Excerpt

“Moon Bitten” by Angharad Thompson Rees

I pull the hood of my red cape over my head, concealing myself against the gust of frigid winds biting with ice and spite. The skies hold the promise of more snow to come. He does not let go of my hand. And it’s not the snow concerning him.
“Blaxton,” I say—his name as sweet as honey on my recently-kissed lips. “Do not concern yourself. It is but a short walk through the woods, and yes, I promise to stay on the tracks.”
I raise an eyebrow, threatening him to contradict me. But he should know my penchant for wandering and losing myself. That’s how we met—deep within the woods in the first days of spring, when frost thawed atop the lake and his green eyes melted ice from my nervous heart.
He pulls me into his chest, his body warm against my own, tempting me to stay. Tempting me to never leave. I melt into him, lips hot as the first flakes of snow dance from the sky.
“Blaxton, no,” I say, pulling myself away with reluctance. The space between his heart and mine gapes as if the very universe could fill the hole. “I have to get back to Grandma, you know I do.”
His face drops at her mention. Grandma despises him despite his soft features, warm honey eyes and sweet, crooked smile. Though I suspect her hatred is aimed more at the threat he will steal me from her. Just as her daughter, my mother, was stolen so many years ago I can no longer picture her face. But that was different. Mother did not fall in love as I have. She was taken…
By wolves.
A perfectly timed howl echoes across the valley, carried along the land muted by snow. Blaxton raises his own eyebrow at the beast’s call and I laugh. An empty tin-like sound of hollow mirth and creeping fear.
“I’ll be fine. Tomorrow,” I say, allowing a smile to creep across my frost-numb face. “Let’s meet tomorrow, same time and place.”
Blaxton captures loose strands of my red hair in his pale fingers. The contrast startling like blood on snow. Tucking the strands behind my left ear, his fingers trail my cheek as he kisses my forehead. “Tomorrow,” he promises.

~*COVER REVEAL*~ Last Night by Kim Deister

Title: Last Night
Author: Kim Deister
Genre: Psychological Thriller/Suspense
Release Date: September 21, 2019 Publisher: Tangled Tree Publishing Cover Design: Claire Smith
Terrifying visions torment Starra. Lost moments of time and flashes of images too horrific to accept fill her with icy fear so complete she can’t escape it. With too many unanswered questions, she needs answers. Now. It’s her only hope if she wants to save what’s left of her shattered mind and soul.
Unlike Starra, Mina cares nothing for her soul. Damned long ago, she’s too scarred for redemption. There are people meant to enjoy lives of love and family and friends. Mina isn’t one of these people. Her life is in the shadows, unafraid of the dark... until she realizes that something lurks in those shadows, something that wants to tear her apart.
One never knows what the darkness hides...
"The night energy was different, more frenetic, more anxious. It crawled along my skin and fed my soul. I wanted more. I needed more. I wanted to take what I wanted and to hell with the rules. But I couldn’t. Not yet. I knew what passersby saw when they looked at me. A slim, fit woman in her midtwenties with blonde hair that fell just below her shoulders. Just like thousands of other women in the city, easily dismissed from their memory. Some of them looked at me for a little longer. Sometimes, it was with the concern that one stranger has for another as they wondered why I didn’t seem to sense the danger they unconsciously did. Those people looked at me and saw a victim waiting to happen. Men looked at me for baser reasons, seeing a woman they wanted to fuck and toss aside when they were finished. No matter what they saw when they looked at me, none of them saw danger in my face. They didn’t look at me and see someone they should fear. Maybe that was their mistake."
I was born and raised in a tiny town in the wilds of northern New York, a pretty, little college town called Potsdam. I grew up in a family of lawyers and teachers and bucked all the traditions. Before becoming a writer, I spent a lot of years wearing combat boots in the US Army. I spent most of my time in boots working as a Signals Intelligence Analyst (no jokes!) and a linguist. I also worked as a tech writer, an entirely different kind of writing, for Corning Glass Works. Now, I’m an Army wife and a mom to four sons.  Over the years, our Army life has taken us all over the place and I have been lucky enough to work and live in some pretty amazing places.  Now we live in Hawaii, just minutes from the beach!
I am a writer thoroughly in love with words. Reading them, writing them... I love that words can take you outside of your world and let the unimaginable become imaginable. When I’m not writing or lounging on the beach, I’m probably somewhere with my nose in a book.
